The JCC Jayhawks men's baseball team (NJCAA 2-7) went on the road to face the Lakers of Finger Lakes Community College (NJCAA 7-14) in double header action. The Jayhawks got off to a fast start scoring two runs in the first inning. The Lakers scored in the bottom of the 1st leading the Jayhawks with a 2-1 lead. After a scoreless 2nd inning, the Jayhawks offense caught fire in the top of the 3rd inning scoring 3 runs. The 4th inning saw both teams score, leaving the Jayhawks with a 6-2 lead. The bottom of the 5th inning had the Lakers narrow the lead to 6-3 but the Jayhawks responded in the top of the 6th inning with 2 runs and would go on to down the Lakers 8-4. On offense, the Jayhawks were again led by #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown) who had 2 hits, 3 RBI's, and scored 1 run; #8 DJ Yates (New London, OH) 2 hits, scored 2 runs, and had 1 RBI; #24 Noah Whalen (Buffalo) had 2 hits and 1 RBI; and #9 Matt Hair (Frewsberg) had 1 hit and 1 RBI. The second half of the double header saw the Jayhawks and Lakers struggle on offense early on as after 2 innings the score was tied 0-0. The 3rd inning saw the Jayhawks score in the top of the 3rd but that score was quickly matched by the Lakers. The top of 4th inning had the Jayhawks add 2 runs to take a 3-1 lead and the score would remain that way until the bottom of the 5th inning when the Lakers ripped off runs to turn the tables on the Jayhawks and grab a 5-3 advantage. However, as has been proven many times, no lead is safe for the opponents of the Jayhawks under Coach Matt Cummings and the Jayhawks responded in the top of the 6th inning, scoring 3 runs and taking a 6-5 lead over the Lakers. The Lakers were not done either, and in the bottom of the 7th inning, the Lakers scored to tie the game at the end of regulation and send the game into extra innings.
