ELYRIA, Ohio — Tyairus Sands exploded for a 34-point, 11-rebound double-double as Jamestown Community College (5-3) picked up a 106-92 win over Lorain Community College in NJCAA men's basketball.

Sands finished his night 3-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc, as did Nate Pelissier on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.

"I thought that (Sands') shot selection was much better. He was getting some deflections and getting out in transition," said head coach Xavier Churnac. "That was good for (Pelissier) because that gives him some confidence moving forward. All of the 3s that he took were in rhythm. We made our free throws. Our last few games we haven't been shooting too well from the line, so that was good that we made them today."

Jared Fish added 12 points and nine boards for the Jayhawks, who would have the benefit of 31 points from the bench, led by Rashawn Clowney with seven.

"They were just contributing the best way that they can. I keep preaching that we need to share the ball and your time will come," said Churnac.

Thomas Hronis, Justin Newman and Andrew Nelson each had 21 points in the loss, but Lorain CC would lose the battle on the glass, 41-23.

Jamestown CC will now welcome Butler County CC on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

"I think we're going to see a well-coached team on Wednesday," Churnac said.
