Women Suffer First Setback Of Campaign

WARWICK, R.I. — The Jamestown Community College women's basketball team led by 10 points after the first quarter, but couldn't maintain the lead down the stretch, falling to the CC of Rhode Island, 70-68, in an NJCAA game Saturday.

Nia Mims scored 19 points and Jada Littlejohn chipped in 18 off the bench to pace the winners. Teammate Tiondra Hands added 12.

Olivia Lynn poured in a game-high 21 points for the Jayhawks (4-1), while Emilee Sperry, Nicole Johnson and Lakin Gustafson all had 10.

Jamestown CC led 18-8 after the first quarter, but the CC of Rhode Island trimmed the deficit to 30-26 at intermission. The hosts outscored the Jayhawks, 44-38, in the second half.

Jamestown CC will be back in action at 1 p.m. today when it travels to the University of Connecticut at Avery Point.
