Women Roll To Win At Genesee CC

BATAVIA — The Jamestown Community College women's basketball team started out on fire en route to an 87-56 NJCAA Region 3 Division II win over Genesee CC on Saturday afternoon.

The Jayhawks went on a 33-8 run in the first quarter, led by Emilee Sperry with 8 points and Alexis Rodenbaugh with 7 and increased that to 48-22 at halftime.

JCC shot very well as it made 34-of-69 for 49 percent and was 12-of-13 from the foul line for 92 percent.

Sperry led five double figure scorers with 21 points on 8-of-11 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range.

Meanwhile, GCC was only 29 percent from the floor (19-55), including 4-of-15 for 29 percent on 3-pointers.

Olivia Lynn had a double-double for JCC (15-5, 7-3) with 10 rebounds and 15 points while collecting four steals. Rodenbaugh contributed five steals Jayhawks and finished with 12 points. Haley Hettenbaugh had five assists and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. 

Hayden Burgeson drilled home 13 points and had four assist and four steals off the JCC bench and Nicole Johnson assisted with 10 points.

Rosalyn Sealey had 16 points for GCC while Keira Perl accounted for 14 points and Reika Muroka had 13 points.

JCC entertains Mercyhurst North East on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
