SYRACUSE — After a crushing 8-2 NJCAA Region 3 Division III loss to Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday, the Jamestown CC women's soccer team rebounded with a 2-1 victory over Onondaga CC at Charles R. Wilbur Field on Sunday.

Alexa Dix converted a pass from Kristen Bowker with just five minutes remaining in the game as the Jayhawks (3-2-0, 3-2-0) avenged a 2016 late-game home loss to the Lazers (2-2-0, 1-2-0).

"We took one from them on their home turf so we're pretty happy about that," Jamestown CC coach Dana Shelters said. "The sophomores were overjoyed to say the least."

The Jayhawks opened the scoring just three minutes into the game when Annalise Boyer scored from Courtney Hewes. The game remained 1-0 into halftime.

"It was a pretty tight game," Shelters said. "I felt we controlled most of the game possession-wise."

Robbie Wucher tied the game in the 77th minute when she converted a long pass from the opposite side of midfield to beat backup goalkeeper Morgan Schoonover.

Schoonover, a freshman from Portville who was playing just her second collegiate game in net due to an injury to starter Rebecca Butcher, made five saves.

"I think we've got things sorted out now and hopefully going forward," Shelters said. "It was a good, solid team effort. I have no idea what happened Saturday."
