Pink the Rink was the Highlight in a Difficult Weekend for Jayhawks

JAMESOTWN, NY - Jamestown Community College (JCC) hockey continues to lead by example when it comes to community outreach and involvement; the latest example was hosting their annual Pink the Rink night on Saturday to raise funds for local breast cancer care at UPMC Chautauqua.

After dropping their game at Canisius University 7-2 on Friday night, the Jayhawks looked like they were primed for a home-and-home split on Saturday.

JCC opened the scoring when Noah Kellogg lit the lamp just five minutes into the first period for a 1-0 lead.

They lead grew to 4-1 in the second on a pair of goals from Garret Greaves and another from Nate Stephens.

In the third, the Jayhawks started to fill the penalty box, which helped in their lead evaporating.

Jamestown quickly allowed three goals from the Griffs to see the game tied 4-4 midway through the final period.

JCC jumped back on top when Kellogg found Bergman Nelson to give the Dirty Birds a 5-4 edge.

From there it was all Canisius, as they scored the final two goals of the game for a 6-5 win at Northwest Arena.

The losses put JCC at 3-3 on the season.

It's another busy weekend ahead for the Jayhawks; they visit Mercyhurst University on Friday, October 17th, at 9:00 PM. They are back on home ice on Saturday, October 18th, at 7:00 PM, with Penn State Behrend in town.

That regional meet takes place on Saturday, October 25th, at Herkimer College.
