Tough Stretch Continues for JCC eSports

OLEAN, NY - It's been a tough week for the Jamestown Community College (JCC) eSports team, dropping four matches to set their record at an even 10-10 on the season.

The Jayhawks' Overwatch team (2-1) battled Heartland Community College (4-1). Following a quick defeat in Game one, JCC rallied back to take Game two by a score of 4-3. However, it was all Hawks after that, as Heartland went on to take a close Game three by a score of 3-2 and closed out the series with a 2-0 win. Despite the loss, several Jayhawks had strong showings, as Drake Kavanagh (52), Charles Sisosn (57), and Seth Stevenson (66) all put up 50+ kills. Kavanagh also put up over 35,000 healings, while Stevenson's total damage totaled over 40,000. Jamestown dropped to 2-2 on the season with the loss and will look to rebound on November 13th at 6:30 PM.

Handing the sticks to Mario Kart 8 Deluze, call it the (un)luck of the draw, Allie Langston's first match was against a league powerhouse in Seward County Community College (6-0), and unfortunately she dropped her best of seven series by a score of 4-0. Pattie Best's match was against Rose State College (5-8) and she similarly dropped her first game of the season by a score of 4-0. Both ladies look to build off this experience and will be looking to rebound next Thursday, November 14th, at 6:30 PM.

Finishing the evening off for the Jayhawks, the Valorant team played SUNY Dutchess Community College (DCC). The Jayhawks took a back-and-forth Game one, where they found themselves trailing by four rounds on two occasions, 13 rounds to 10. History would only partially repeat itself in Game two, where the Jayhawks would rally to tie after falling behind by four rounds again, but the DCC Hawks would hold on and take Game two also by a score of 13-10. Game three, however, was entirely controlled by the bad guys, and we dropped the match by a score of 13-2 and the series 2-1. With the loss, we fall to 1-3 on the season.  In the loss, Shawn Carpenter led the team with 52 kills, while Captain Josh Baker was next with 44. Nate Carpenter led the team and was second in the match for assists (24). A bright spot in the loss was that on several occasions we were able to rally back from big round deficits, and our 85 combined assists were the most this season. The team will look to put the pieces together and get back in the win column next Thursday at 7:30 PM.
