JCC athletic director George Sisson hands Candence Rodgers her women's championship plaque

CHAUTAUQUA, NY - It was a solid showing for the Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's and women's golfers at the Region 3 championships hosted by JCC. The two-day event saw nearly fifty golfers from nine teams invade Chautauqua Golf Club.

Jamestown struggled a bit on day one, with Reid Olsen leading the way for the men, carding an 82; Cole Johnson finished with an 86; and Kyler Wojtowicz shot a 98. On the women's side, Cadence Rodgers was in first with an opening round 109.

Day two not only saw sunnier skies but also better scoring across the board for the Jayhawks. Wojtowicz shot a JCC-best round of 75 to propel himself into 23rd place overall with a two-day score of 173. Finishing one spot above him was Johnson, who followed his 86 with an 85 for a 171. Olsen carded a 76 to rocket up the leaderboard into seventh place overall with a 158, only ten strokes off the winner Finn Graham of SUNY Niagara. Rodgers improved her score to a 104 for a championship-winning score of 213.

Jamestown and the rest of the nation's best golfers now turn their attention to the NJCAA Division 3 national championships hosted by JCC from June 1st to June 5th back at Chautauqua Golf Club.
