Jayhawks Open Region Play At Niagara County Wednesday Evening

JAMESTOWN - The Jamestown Community College women's basketball team will open up region action tomorrow, March 3rd, at Niagara County Community College.

 

The Jayhawks (1-1) are coming off their first victory of the season against Harcum College, defeating them 85-77. JCC was led by freshman forward Nadara Odell (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) with a double-double, scoring 27 points while grabbing 10 rebounds (5 offense, 5 defense). Freshman guard Jessica Beehler (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) is continuing her hot start to the season, getting her second double-double of the year with 14 points while dishing out 12 assists.

 

JCC is averaging 93.5 points per game while grabbing 56 rebounds per contest. Odell is leading the Jayhawks in scoring per outing, averaging 28.5 points. Beehler is second on the team in scoring, averaging 16 points per contest while adding 11.5 assists. Freshman Hannah Hicks (Cleveland, OH, Cleveland Heights) and Kymi Nance (Dunkirk, NY, Dunkirk HS) are making great contributions in the scoring  column, averaging 13 points per game. 

 

On the boards, Hicks leads the way with 18 boards pergame with Amari Carter (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) grabbing eight rebounds per game. Odell is also making her mark on the glass, averaging 7.5 boards per game.

 

The Thunderwolves (0-1) are coming off a close 97-96 defeat against No. 20 Lackawanna College this past Sunday. NCCC were led by Alaina Forbes with 26 points with Gabrielle McDuffle adding 21 points. On the glass, the Thunderwolves were led by McDuffle with 13 rebounds (6 offense, 7 defense).
