JCC's Hayley Dawson Commits to SUNY Morrisville for Basketball

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's Hayley Dawson (Papamoa, New Zealand / Tauranga Girl's College) has committed to continuing her academic and athletic careers at SUNY Morrisville in Morrisville, NY.

Dawson appeared in 47 games for the Jayhawks, where she averaged over 4.4 points as a sophomore, with three rebounds and an assist per game. Hayley also was an All-American swimmer for the Jayhawks and played softball as a sophomore.

The Papamoa, New Zealand native plans to study Environmental and Natural Resource Management, "Academically, JCC enabled me to take a range of classes within my major. Ultimately, the ecology and the urban forestry internship helped me to decide my new major at Morrisville," said Dawson.

The guard was a captain for the Jayhawks basketball team and will forever be known for her resilience and willingness to do whatever JCC Athletics needed of her "Athletically, JCC was a good stepping stone into American athletics and specifically basketball. I was able to have heaps of opportunities and different experiences that I would have never thought possible," added Hayley.

Dawson now takes that passion for sports just east of Syracuse, NY, where she said, "I loved the women's basketball program, the major, and the campus," when speaking about SUNY Morrisville.

While reflecting on her time as a Jayhawk, Dawson added, "My favorite moments were all the van rides to and from games for sure! The game against Beaver County was one of my favorite games because we played a really good team game. Swimming nationals in Florida. And scoring a run in the ECC game for softball."
