Heartbreaking Loss Thwarts JCC's Unblemished Weekend

SANBORN, NY - Brokenhearted—that's how the Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball team felt on their drive home from SUNY Niagara on Saturday afternoon. The Jayhawk ladies thought they should be coming home with a 2-0 record in the Thunderwolves Thanksgiving Classic, but the officials called a three from Community College of Beaver County at the buzzer good, and JCC was left with a 67-66 loss. The video of the game shows the shot taking place after the buzzer sounded and backboard lights went on, but it's JCC coming home with the tough loss. 

In defeat, JCC was led by Fredonia product Ashlynn Delcamp, who scored a team-high 16 points with 12 rebounds. Sophomore Kendra Altadonna also grabbed 12 boards, while freshman Tru Billie scored 15.

The weekend wasn't total heartbreak; the ladies knocked off Villa Maria on Saturday, with a 76-69 final score. Mila Espinoza led the way with 16 points off the bench, while Altadonna and Billie each added 12 points.

Jamestown is now 7-2 after the weekend split.

JCC is back on the court Wednesday, December 3rd, at 5:30 PM, when they visit Lakeland Community College.
