JCC Ladies Make it Three Straight Wins in 25-Point Win over Orange CCC

JAMESTOWN, NY - It's not how you start, but how you finish, and the Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball team proved that saying correct in their 75-50 win over Orange County Community College on Sunday afternoon.

The Jayhawks started the game down 10-4 before ripping off an 11-2 run to close the quarter thanks in large part to jumpers from Samantha Probst, who finished the afternoon with 10 points.

Jamestown opened up the second quarter much like they closed the first, as Jani Washington's transition layup put the Jayhawks up double digits. The sophomore ended with a team-high 17 points.

The Jayhawks would dominate the second quarter 22-5 to go to the break with a 37-17 advantage.

JCC head coach Dave Turnbull went to his bench often in this one, and they didn't disappoint. A pair of long-range buckets from Madalyn King pushed the Jayhawks' lead to 21 late in the third, and it was time for cruise control.

Jamestown would go on to win by 25 points thanks in large part to rebound dominance, winning the boards 48-31, and unselfish play, racking up 18 assists.

The win moves the ladies to 12-6 on the year.

Jamestown has a few days off before they open conference play at Monroe Community College on Saturday, January 24th, at 1:00 PM.
