Second and Fourth Quarters Dooms JCC Women at SUNY Niagara

SANBORN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) women's basketball team fell to SUNY Niagara on Saturday afternoon, 98-63, thanks in part to closing the first half and final ten minutes poorly versus the Thunderwolves.

JCC started the game looking good; a three from Jaemie Jensen gave the Jayhawks a 13-10 lead with 90 seconds left in the opening frames. The freshman finished with a team-high 15 points.

After Niagara tied it up, Lailah McGary hit a layup for a 15-13 Jamestown lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter was all T'wolved, outscoring the Jayhawks 28-14 to put JCC in a 12-point hole heading to halftime.

Jamestown fought back in the third. A three from Mila Espinoa, followed by two points from Felicity Thiem and a three from Jani Washington, and the deficit was cut to just six at 47-41.

Again, Niagara had an answer, closing the third up 67-51 off of a 20-10 run for the home team.

The fourth quarter was a struggle for JCC. Losing the final frame 31-12 for the 35-point loss.

This setback pushed Jamestown to 13-8 on the season, 1-2 in conference play.

JCC is back home on Wednesday, February 11th, to finish league action with Monroe Community College in town for sophomore day at 5:30 PM.
