JCC's Jax Arcuri Continues his Baseball Career at Valley City State University

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's (JCC) Jax Arcuri (Welland, Ontario, Canada/ESC Saint-Jean-de-Brebeuf) is advancing his athletic and academic career at Valley City State University (VCSU) in North Dakota.

"The academics were able to align as a transfer student and give me the opportunity to graduate on time," said Arcuri. "Along with that, the head coach for VCSU baseball, Coach DeMaria, gave me the opportunity to continue my baseball career with a promising program. Although North Dakota is far, it's an opportunity that is too good to let distance stop," he added.

Arcuri was the lone captain on the Jayhawks' baseball team, racking up a .320 batting average while scoring 16 runs and 15 runs batted in.

"My two years with JCC Baseball are the reason I'm able to make this move. Coach Jerico gave me a chance out of high school and trusted me. My teammates through my two years helped me improve and develop into the person and player I am today by pushing me to be better and holding me accountable," Arcuri stated.

VCSU is a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in North Dakota, where Arcuri will major in sport leadership and management with a minor in marketing.

"My professors really cared about my success and were supportive of my academics and athletics. They helped me learn how to manage my time and responsibilities throughout my two years," stated Jax.

The Canadian leaves Jamestown with a wealth of experiences.

"It's hard to think of one specific memory. My two years as a Jayhawk were an incredible experience, and it wouldn't feel fair naming one memory since I have plenty that will stay with me for the rest of my life," Arcuri stated. "Easily the thing I'll miss the most from JCC is waking up and going to practice with the baseball team that I now consider family," he added.

Arcuri and his Vikings teammates begin fall ball in September.
