Walks and Errors Plague Jayhawks in Pair of Defeats

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team struggled on Thursday afternoon against Erie Community College (ECC), giving away too many free bases to the Kats by way of walks and errors, leading to their pair of home losses.

In game one, JCC suffered from a total of nine walks, hit batters, or errors, leading to the 15-3 ECC win. The Jayhawks fell behind 6-0 going to the bottom of the 3rd when Adem Kubera hit into a fielder's choice that put the first run on the board for the Jayhawks. The deficit ballooned to 15-1 going to the bottom of the 7th, where Jamestown plated a pair on hits from Anthony Tolentino and Santino Musone, but the hole was too big for JCC to overcome in the 12-run loss.

Game two started much better for the home team, trailing just 1-0 going to the 5th, but that's where Erie broke things open. After the inning started with an error, ECC was able to push six runs across to make it a 7-0 game. Jamestown battled back in the bottom of the 5th, with Luke Larson's single earning JCC's first run. Two batters later Bryce Bedrosian knocked in another to make it a 7-2 affair, then Josue Rosario walked with the bases loaded to make it 7-3, but Jamestown couldn't draw any closer from there as they fell 10-3.

The two losses knock the Jayhawks to 8-13 on the season, with a pair of home games coming up on Saturday against SUNY Niagara starting at 1:00 PM.
