CORNING, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team extended its winning streak to four games with a doubleheader sweep of Corning Community College on Thursday.
In game one, the Jayhawks jumped on the board first with a Bryce Bedrosian RBI single that scored Seth Ranieri for a 1-0 lead. The advantage grew to three runs with a two-RBI single from sophomore Emmanuel Rosario. Next up for the Jayhawks was Josue Rosario, who came through with another RBI single to push the JCC edge to 4-0. After a balk made it 5-0, the reigning Region 3 player of the week, Santino Musone, hit into a fielder's choice for a 6-0 JCC scoreboard. Corning made it a 6-2 game heading to the 4th, where JCC's bats once again came to life. The damage came off of the stick of Angel Perez, who walked to the plate with the bases loaded. They didn't stay loaded for long as he smacked a grand slam to right for a 10-0 JCC score. The score became 11-4 off of another hit from Perez, this time a single to center. Jamestown finished off the scoring in the top of the 7th, with a two-run single from Jackson Shannon, to win it 14-6.
Game two was a much closer affair for the Jayhawks and Barons, with Jamestown winning 5-4. It started in the 3rd with a Josue Rosario single, scoring the first run. JCC fell behind for the first time in the 5th, as Corning took a 3-2 advantage to the 6th. The Jayhawks would tie the game at 3-3 when Jackson Shannon scored from third on a single to center by Cadyn Wilson. Wilson would later score on a sacrifice fly by Bedrosian to make it 4-3 Jayhawks. The 4-3 score held into the 7th until Musone singled to left for a two-run JCC advantage. Corning made it a close win late, loading the bases down 5-4 before a play at home won it on the tag from Shannon to secure the 5-4 win.
Jamestown now sits at 12-19 on the season with a busy weekend ahead. JCC hosts Tompkins Cortland Community College (TCCC) for a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 PM and then visits TCCC for a doubleheader on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
