JCC Pushes Winning Streak to Six Games with Doubleheader Wins Over TCCC

JCC celebrates a grand slam hit by #16 Luke Larson

SALAMANCA, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team has found a rythem at the plate, scoring 27 runs in their doubleheader sweep for Tompkins Cortland Community College (TCCC) on Monday to extend their winning streak to six games.

JCC was hitting early and often in game one, taking a quick 3-0 lead on RBIs from Santino Musone, who later scored on a wild pitch, and Bryce Bedrosian for the early home team advantage. After TCCC made it a 3-1 game, Josue Rosario went to work on the basepath. First, he walked before stealing second and ultimately scoring later in the inning for a 4-1 lead. Jamestown broke the game open in the 3rd inning, sending seven guys home for an 11-1 edge. The runs were driven in on a single by Bedrosian and a fielder's choice for Emmanuel Rosario. Josue Rosario then drove in a run before the big damage came from a two-run home run off the bat of Musone. After a pitching change, Angel Perez came home on a wild pitch, and finally Seth Ranieri knocked in a run for the ten-run edge. The Jayhawks weren't done there; they'd score another seven runs in the bottom of the 4th to take an 18-3 lead. This time the hit parade started with a two-run single from Perez, and the loudest of the runs came from a grand slam off of the bat of sophomore Luke Larson to see the scoreboard swell to a 15-run lead. When it was all said and done, JCC won game one 18-5.

In game two the Jayhawks' sticks stayed hot en route to an 11-6 victory. TCCC stuck first, claiming a 1-0 lead heading to the bottom of the 1st inning. The Jayhawks fired back, tying things up at 1-1 off a single up the middle from Perez. For the first time in the series, the Jayhawks found themselves in a hole, with TCCC making it 4-1 heading to the bottom of the 2nd, but JCC had an answer, with Emmanuel Rosario and Anthony Tolentino driving in runs to once again even the score at 4-4. The seesaw battle continued, as TCCC went up 5-4 in the 4th. However, Jamestown kept chipping back in; this time Tolentino plated a run with a double. He was driven in by Emmanuel Rosario for a 6-5 JCC lead. That score held to the bottom of the 6th, where the Jayhawks closed the door with a six-run frame. Again it was the long ball lighting up the scoreboard. It started with a three-run blast from Musone, then Anger Perez made it back-to-back jacks for a 10-5 JCC advantage. Larson ended the scoring as he belted another run-scoring single to make it 11-5. TCCC would add a run late, but JCC secured an 11-6 win.

The pair of victories moves Jamestown to 14-9 on the year.

JCC hits the road for a pair of games at TCCC on Tuesday, April 28th at 2:00 PM.
