BATAVIA, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) baseball team had their eight-game winning streak snapped at Genesee Community College (GCC) on Saturday afternoon as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader.
Jamestown jumped out to an early lead in game one, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, but things fell apart for the Jayhawks in the bottom of the 2nd when they allowed five runs to Genesee to fall behind 5-1. The Jayhawks fought back to score a pair in the 4th to cut the deficit to 5-3, but GCC answered with two runs of their own in the 6th for the final score of 7-3.
Game two was an even closer contest, but JCC came up on the wrong end in a 3-1 decision. Jamestown trailed 1-0 in the 4th before Santino Musone evened the game with an RBI, but GCC drove in a couple of runs in the bottom half of the inning for the final two-run difference.
Jamestown's record falls to 16-21 with the two regional losses.
The Jayhawks have a chance to get revenge on the Cougars when they play a pair in Jamestown on Sunday with a 12:00 PM first pitch.
