Jayhawks Bounce Back with Home Win over Butler CCC Pioneers

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's basketball team snapped its three-game skid with a 98-94 home win over Butler County Community College (BC3) on Saturday evening in front of a loud Jayhawks' nest.

It started looking like JCC might run away with this one, opening a 5-0 lead inside the first 40 seconds of the game after Federico Foddai splashed a three from the corner, but Butler scored the next six points to calm that home crowd.

That seesaw battle would last all forty minutes. BC3 opened up a five-point edge in the middle of the first half before Foddai knocked down another triple en route to a 20-point game. The sophomore also added seven assists and five rebounds.

Jamestown went to the break with a three-point lead at 43-40 thanks in large part to the contributions from Justin Suarez off the bench. The sophomore's layup put JCC up 43-40 at half; he finished with a team-high 28.

The Pioneers snatched an early advantage in the second with a three from Ivan Zhivkov to make it a 50-48 contest.

JCC started to build a bit of a game thanks to the long ball. First, Jodan Wright knocked one down, and then Foddai followed it up to push the edge to 79-66.

Butler would go on its own run after that. The game's leading scorer was Nicholas DelGratta, who scored 35; his bucket pulled the game to 94-95 Jayhawks.

The game was locked down for JCC when Foddai missed the back end of a one-and-one, but Aidan Penchion tipped in the offensive rebound to make it your final of 98-94.

The win moves Jamestown to 6-4 on the season and ends the aforementioned three-game slide.

Jamestown hits the road next when they travel to Genesee Community College on Wednesday, December 10th, for a 7:00 PM tip.
