JCC Men Make it Two Straight Wins with Victory at Onondaga

SYRACUSE, NY - It's not how you start, but how you finish, and that old adage paid true for the Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's basketball team in their 85-77 win at Onondaga Community College on Sunday.

Jamestown fell behind early, trailing 23-8 around the halfway mark of the first half before a Gabriel Collins layup and jump shot from the freshman started and ended a run that brought the Jayhawks to within 26-22. The Memphis native finished with 13 points.

JCC took their first lead in the game at the 1:32 mark of the opening half off of a made bucket from freshman Pietro Magni, who netted six on the afternoon.

Just before the break, Jodan Wright knocked down a three to push the JCC edge to 42-37. He'd finish with 19 points and nine rebounds. Jamestown went to the locker room with a 43-40 lead.

The second half started a lot like the first, with the Jayhawks quickly falling behind by seven at 55-45 and trailing by ten in the middle of the second stanza as well.

JCC stormed back and tied the game at 76-76 off of a jumper from Naeem Richardson. The freshman scored a dozen off the bench.

From there Jamestown went on a run thanks to Marcus Wynter, who scored the last nine points of the game to give the Jayhawks the 85-77 victory. He led all scorers with 21 on the day.

The second straight win for JCC moves them to 7-4 on the season.

Jamestown hosts one more game before they get their Christmas break, with Detroit Community Christian College coming to town on Saturday, December 20th, at 1:00 PM.
