Long Range Shooting Leads Jayhawk Men to 92-81 Win

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's basketball team made it five wins in their last six games as they took down Garrett College 92-81 on Wednesday afternoon.

This one came down to the simple fact that Jamestown was hot from all areas of the floor. The Jayhawks shot 47% from the field, 45% from three, and made 14 of 16 free throws in the 11-point win.

JCC jumped out to an early lead, going up 11-5 on a Marcus Wynter mid-range jumper. The sophomore finished with 16, one of five Jayhawks to hit double digits.

Garrett stormed back after that, putting together a 24-10 run to put Jamestown in a 29-21 hole.

That's when the other four top scorers took over.

First up, Kayvone Craig buried a corner three to make it 31-26. The sophomore finished with a team-high 21.

Then it was Pietro Magni's turn; the Italian had the game of his life, scoring a career-high 18 while passing out seven assists.

JCC took the lead off of a jumper from another Italian, this time Federico Foddai, who scored 14 points. His two-pointer gave Jamestown a 51-50 advantage.

The Jamestown lead swelled to eleven with Jodan Wright scoring two of his 15, followed by buckets by Magni and Craig to have JCC up 73-62.

Another three from Magni sealed the deal; the corner splash made it 90-73 with just over three minutes to play.

JCC never looked back, claiming the 92-81 win.

The victory moves the Jayhawks to 10-5 on the year.

Jamestown is back at home on Sunday, January 18th, at 2:00 PM when Orange County Community College comes to town.
