Jayhawks Stumble 3-0 in Non-League Match Against Lakeland CC

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's soccer team returned to non-league competition on Friday afternoon against Division 2 Lakeland Community College and fell 3-0 on the home pitch.

JCC found itself in an early hole as Abram Gutierrez raced behind the Jayhawks' defense to finish his first of two on the day for the 1-0 Jamestown deficit.

The Dirty Birds weren't without their chances. Later in the half, both Braidan Govan and Alfie Moynihan had chances for the equalizer, but neither could finish the opportunity.

It was the Lakers capitalizing just before the half to put JCC down 2-0 going to the break.

Jamestown had more quality chances in the second half off the foot of Cole Johnson and later Jack Morris, but again neither could find the back of the net as the game remained a 2-0 affair.

It was Lakeland who broke through again in the 80th minute from Gutierrez for the final of 3-0.

Jamestown now sits at 4-2 overall, but a perfect 4-0 in Region 3 action.

JCC stays in non-conference play next as they head to Lorain Community College on Sunday, September 7th, at 1:00 PM.
