Liam Doyle's 3 Helpers Lead JCC to 4-0 Win Over Broome

BINGHAMTON, NY - Thanks to three assists from freshman Liam Doyle in Jamestown Community College's (JCC) men's soccer 4-0 win over SUNY Broome, the Jayhawks are drawing closer to hosting a Region 3 playoff game in late October.

The regional showdown between Jamestown and Broome started off as a sludgefest with neither team scoring through the first 43 minutes, but just before half, Doyle found fellow newcomer Luca Marini in the box; the Irishman didn't miss the point-blank shot and gave JCC a 1-0 lead heading to the break.

Just 10 minutes into the second half, JCC doubled its advantage when Doyle found the ball after a scrum in front of the net, and he once again spotted Marini, who potted his second of the day for a 2-0 Jayhawks edge.

Fast forward to the 77th minute, and once again it was Doyle passing out an assist as he found another freshman in Jack Morris, who buried his fourth goal of the season for a 3-0 Jamestown lead.

The Jayhawks had one more goal in them before boarding the bus; this time it was Casimiro Espeso Gayt spotting teammate Sam Hynes for a 4-0 final.

In net, Theo Merlin stopped all three shots he saw behind a dominant Jamestown defense led by captain Sam Little.

The win moves JCC to 9-5 overall and 6-3 in league. Jamestown is now on the cusp of hosting another playoff game, needing one win in their last three regional games to secure home field in the quarterfinals.

JCC stays on the road this Saturday when they visit nationally ranked Herkimer at 1:00 PM.
