JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College's Sam Little (Bangor, Northern Ireland / Bangor Grammar School) is continuing his academic and athletic careers at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA, where he'll major in human biology.

"Carlow, for me, was the best choice as it offered what I wanted academically as well as getting to live in a big city," said Little.

The sophomore appeared in 36 games for the Jayhawks, where he was a steadying force in the middle of the field while earning the captain's band during his second year in green and gold.

"JCC soccer prepared me well for this move, giving me my first taste of college soccer," mentioned the Irishman. "JCC also allowed me to develop as a player thanks to coach Jesse (da Costa) and coach Pat (Anderson)," he finished.

Little's impact wasn't limited to the pitch; he also took advantage of his opportunities in the classroom. He carried a 3.64 GPA through his two years at JCC, earning Academic All-American in the process.

"JCC prepared me very well, as it gave me a good indication of what college classes and the work were going to be like and allowed me to succeed academically," he added.

Sam also played golf for JCC as a freshman, but his heart was always with his brothers on the pitch.

"My best memory as a Jayhawk was probably scoring against #2-ranked Finger Lakes (Community College) to start the comeback from 2-0, ending with a 2-2 tie as our last game at JCC," he said with a smile.

As for what he'll miss most about his time in Western New York, Little said, "I'll definitely miss the sense of community at JCC; there was especially the friendliness of everyone in the athletic department."

Little and the rest of the Carlow Celtics begin their 2026 season in August.
