Jayhawks Drop Conference Match to ECC

BUFFALO – The Jamestown Community College volleyball team dropped their conference match to Erie Community College Tuesday evening, 3-1.

 

The Jayhawks (7-8, 2-1 WNYAC) fell in the first set, 25-18 and rallied in the second set 25-16 to even the match. The teams went tic-for-tac over the next two frames but the Kats came away with 26-24 and 25-22 set victories.

 

Freshman outside hitter Emma McCarthy (Olean, NY/Allegany-Limestone) led the offensive attack for JCC, finishing with a team-high 12 kills with freshman outside hitter Megan Cotter (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) added 10 kills. Freshman middle hitter Claire Pumford (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) chipped in with nine kills.

 

Freshman setter Madison Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) returned to the lineup for the Jayhawks, finishing with 35 assists while adding 14 digs.

 

McCarthy led the team in digs on the evening with 24 while Claire Pumford was close behind with 22 digs. Freshman outside hitter Maggie McClellan (Olean, NY/Olean HS) chipped in with 20 digs. McCarthy and McClellan made their presence known at the net, each getting two blocks.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Monroe Community College for a 6 p.m. start
