Jayhawks to host NJCAA Eastern A Districts this Evening

JAMESTOWN – Fighting for a chance to go to the big dance, the Jamestown Community College wrestling team will compete against Niagara County Community College in the NJCAA Eastern A Districts Thursday evening.

 

The Jayhawks have had their fair share of success against the Thunderwolves with sophomore Taige Jones (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove HS) and freshman Trenton Donahue (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area HS) bringing their undefeated records to the table.

 

Jones, wrestling in the 133 pound weight class, has two wins over Zachary Ash, winning via decision and by a tie breaker-1. Jones also has a win over Julius Whetstone via fall.

 

Donahue, wrestling in the 141 pound weight class, has a 16-0 tech. fall over Nikalis Voelker along with a decision victory over Cole French.

 

Freshman Ross Abram (Eden, NY/Eden Central) has had great performances in the 174 pound weight class, going 2-0. Abram has gotten falls over Jacob Mancuso and Casey Cooper.

 

Other Jayhawks finding success against the Thunderwolves is 125 pounder Marcus Evans (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS), 165 pounder Andrew Bungar (Hermitage, PA/Hickory HS), and 184 pounder Jesse Storch (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads HS) all getting one win on the year.

 

Sophomore Otto Davidson (Congers, NY/Clarkstown North) has been on the cusp in his two matches against NCCC, falling via decisions in tight battles.

 

Action starts tonight at 8 p.m.
