Irvin, Smith Secure Victories for JCC Wrestling at Lackawanna College

SCRANTON, PA - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) wrestling team made the trip to Lackawanna College on Saturday afternoon for a tri-meet with the home Falcons and Union University.

Jamestown sent three wrestlers to the event: sophomores Brad Smith and Shayne Irvin and freshman Jamison Caldwell.

Irvin secured the Jayhawks' first win at 157 pounds when he took down Utica's Matt Bonato via a 13-11 decision. He later dropped his matchup with Lackawanna via a pin at 1:40.

Smith was able to secure JCC's lone victory against Lackawanna with a fall at 4:07 over Erick Reyes at 184 pounds. He wasn't as fortunate against Union, losing by pin late in the matchup.

Newcomer Jamison Caldwell finished 0-2 on the trip as he made his heavyweight debut for JCC.

The Jayhawks are back on the mats Saturday, February 21st, at 10:00 AM when they host the District X championships.
